Santa Maria Community Services offers housing assistance in an effort to provide individuals with the resources they need to acquire and maintain stable housing. Our services include tenant education, rental-housing supports, budgeting, and more.
We assist families and individuals who want to learn about finding and keeping safe, decent, affordable rental housing, and cover a range of topics including: tracking spending and budgeting for housing, identifying what is affordable for the individual, explaining the rental application process, discussing how to understand a lease, explaining security deposits, tenant maintenance, and facing, avoiding or dealing with evictions, identifying how to communicate with landlords about tenants’ rights and responsibilities, and discussing condition issues. Santa Maria’s Affordable Housing Coach works with people individually when finding or keeping affordable housing is a barrier to other self-reliance goals. We can help avoid or bounce back from an eviction, find or keep housing with strategies such as tenant education, advocacy with landlords, and access to other resources.View Our Finance Classes
