Santa Maria Community Services is excited to announce it has received 12 grants this Fall/Winter in support of its 2018-2019 programs and services. The grants were awarded by the A. T. Folger, Jr. – Lowe Simpson Fund of The Greater Cincinnati Foundation, The Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati Foundation, The Andrew Jergens Foundation, the Charles H. Dater Foundation, Cincy-Cinco, the Donald C. and Laura M. Harrison Family Foundation, the Ohio Commission on Minority Health, the SC Ministry Foundation, the Scripps Howard Foundation, the Sister Elise Grant Fund of the SC Ministry Foundation, The Sutphin Family Foundation, and the US Bank Foundation for the following programs and services:
- The A. T. Folger, Jr. – Lowe Simpson Fund of The Greater Cincinnati Foundation awarded Santa Maria a grant for the agency’s 2019 programming.
- The Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati Foundation awarded Santa Maria $3,000 for the Wellness Program, which improves individual’s accessibility to health care related services.
- The Andrew Jergens Foundation awarded Santa Maria $12,000 for the agency’s Youth Development Program, which provides youth with opportunities to develop life skills, build character, and participate in healthy recreational activities.
- The Charles H. Dater Foundation awarded Santa Maria $25,000 for the Dater4Kids Program, which supports violence prevention and educational activities designed to foster young people’s social skills, tolerance, responsibility to community, and success in school.
- Cincy-Cinco (Cincinnati Latino Festival) awarded Santa Maria $2,500 for the 2019 Family Health Fair, which provides attendees with free health screenings, education, and resources.
- The Donald C. and Laura M. Harrison Family Foundation awarded Santa Maria $15,000 for the 2019 Education Program, which provides individuals with the education and training to obtain a High School Equivalency diploma.
- The Ohio Commission on Minority Health awarded Santa Maria $3,500 for the 2019 Family Health Fair, which provides attendees with free health screenings and resources.
- The SC Ministry Foundation awarded Santa Maria a grant for the agency’s 2019 IETC/VITA (Earned Income Tax Credit/Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program, which provides volunteers with IRS training and certification to help individuals prepare and file taxes.
- The Scripps Howard Foundation awarded Santa Maria $2,000 through the Scripps Howard Communications Internship Program which provides the agency’s Development Department with a Communications student intern for 2019.
- The Sister Elise Grant Fund of the SC Ministry Foundation awarded Santa Maria a grant for the agency’s 2019 Spanish Speaking Women’s Group, which empowers women in Price Hill through a safe, educational support group.
- The Sutphin Family Foundation awarded Santa Maria $25,000 for the Building Youth Assets Program, which helps youth develop social and emotional competencies through group facilitation and family advocacy.
- The US Bank Foundation awarded Santa Maria $10,000 for the 2018-2019 Workforce Development Program, which encompasses Santa Maria’s Employment Programs, Education Program and Financial Coaching Services.
