Santa Maria Community Services and PreventionFIRST! Announce Exciting Community Block Party
Santa Maria Community Services, in collaboration with PreventionFIRST!, is thrilled to host a vibrant community block party. Join us on Wednesday, May 29, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Santa Maria Community Services, located at 3208 Warsaw Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45205, for an exciting day of community engagement, education, and empowerment at Santa Maria’s 2nd Annual PreventionFIRST! Block Party.
The day will feature free food, drinks, music, games and giveaways as well as visits from the Hamilton County 513Relief Bus and the Fifth Third Financial Empowerment Bus. The 513Relief Bus, funded by Hamilton County Commissioners, is a mobile medical and social services hub providing health screenings, social services, and economic relief. It offers a unique community-based approach to delivering no-cost resources that enhance stability, while removing barriers related to access, transportation, and technology. The Fifth Third Bank Empowerment Bus provides comprehensive financial services including credit reports and score reviews, personal finance evaluations, financial education, online banking tutorials, account openings, loan application referrals, and job search assistance.
A special feature of the event will be an introduction to all of Santa Maria’s extensive programs including early childhood and youth development, education, financial coaching, health and wellness, and our comprehensive employment programs, which cater to the diverse needs of the community.
Santa Maria’s FREE Youth Employment program will showcase opportunities for training in high-demand careers such as Commercial Driving (CDL), State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and more. Participants will also learn about Santa Maria’s Work Experience Program that connects youth with local businesses for real-world job experience.
To ensure accessibility for all our attendees, bilingual staff will be on hand to assist Spanish-speaking participants. Additionally, experts from PreventionFIRST! will be available to educate the community about substance abuse prevention, implementing best practices and evidence-based strategies to reduce the risk of behavioral health disorders. Their presence underscores our joint commitment to fostering a healthier, safer, and more prosperous community.
In addition to the empowering resources provided at the event, the Cincinnati NAACP will be present to assist residents in registering to vote, reinforcing the importance of civic engagement within the community. Santa Maria would like to extend our gratitude to all the organizations participating in this event, including PreventionFIRST!, Fifth Third Bank, Cincinnati NAACP, IKRON, Peach Tree Advocacy, 160 Driving Academy, The Academy of Dental Assisting and Professional Training (ADAPT), Supply Chain OKI, Dress for Success Cincinnati, Lindsey’s Shaved Ice, Unity Visuals Solutions, Erlanger Window Cleaning, Ladies of Leadership, and TRH Solutions. Their contributions are invaluable, and together, we are making a significant impact toward building a stronger, more connected community.
“Our goal is to provide a platform where the community can come together to access vital resources, discover opportunities for economic improvement, and celebrate the spirit of Price Hill,” said H.A. Musser, Jr., President and CEO of Santa Maria Community Services. “We are excited to offer a day that not only provides fun but also empowers our community members through essential services and programs.”
