Santa Maria Community Services, Inc. Strengthens Board with Two New Appointments

Santa Maria Community Services, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering families in achieving their educational, financial, and health goals, is thrilled to announce the addition of two outstanding individuals to its Board of Directors: India Cole and Gary Kohls.

India Cole: India Cole brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the board. With over a decade of service at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center as a Quality Improvement Specialist, Ms. Cole has demonstrated her commitment to making a positive impact in underserved communities. She has actively contributed to the African American Professional Advisory Council as a Communication Coordinator and has shown leadership as the former chair of the Dater Montessori Local School Decision Making Committee. Additionally, Ms. Cole has been a dedicated coach for Girls on the Run. She holds a master’s degree in health administration from Northern Kentucky University and a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Cincinnati.

Regarding her appointment, Ms. Cole stated, “I wholeheartedly support the mission of SMCS and wanted to join the board to ensure that the programs and initiatives offered to the Price Hill community are co-created with the very citizens that it serves.” Ms. Cole resides in Green Township with her husband and three children.

Gary Kohls:  Gary Kohls, the newly appointed Market Manager at Union Savings Bank, brings a wealth of financial expertise to the Board. With over 13 years of experience at U.S. Bank Home Mortgage, Mr. Kohls has demonstrated a commitment to serving the community and facilitating positive change. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in management from Marietta College.

“When I heard that Santa Maria Community Services was looking for board members, I was immediately interested,” Kohls said. “For generations, my family lived in Price Hill, and an opportunity to give back to the community is the least I can do.” Mr. Kohls said he has been fortunate in his life and he credits his Price Hill upbringing for that. “I look forward to my involvement with Santa Maria and assisting the organization and community in any means possible,” he said.  Kohls currently resides in Delhi with his wife, Hope, and two children, Kelsey Curd (Travis) and Hunter, along with four granddaughters, Georgia, Millie, Capri and Kaia.

Ms. Cole’s and Mr. Kohls’ dedication and passion for supporting individuals and families in need make them excellent additions to Santa Maria’s Board of Directors.

Guillermo Villa, Chair of Santa Maria’s Board of Directors, expressed great enthusiasm regarding these new appointments, stating, “We are excited to welcome India Cole and Gary Kohls to our esteemed board. Their diverse backgrounds, expertise, and commitment to community empowerment will undoubtedly strengthen Santa Maria’s ability to make a lasting impact in the lives of the families we serve.”
