Santa Maria receives $15,000 in book donations

After spending months in preparation and pledging money, Scripps Howard Foundation partnered with The E.W. Scripps Company employees for the “If You Give a Child a Book” campaign. As part of National Reading Day, employees of both companies distributed thousands of books to children in need all over the country. In total, the campaign raised about $143,000, all of which was used to purchase Scholastic books.

On Monday, January 23, 2017, Santa Maria’s East Price Hill location received a sizeable delivery of Scholastic children’s books. Scripps Howard Foundation donated $15,000 worth of Scholastic children’s books to Santa Maria’s Early Childhood Development Programs. Several staff members, including Santa Maria’s President and CEO, H.A. Musser, and Battinto Batts, Director of the Journalism Fund with Scripps Howard Foundation, helped to carry the books into the building. This incredible donation will help several children in the Greater Price Hill community. Thank you, Scripps Howard Foundation!
